Main Objective
As a Bolting Engineer at SGHCL, you will lead bolted joint integrity operations for the Dammam bolting section, taking full technical ownership of procedures, calculations, and quality assurance across shutdown, turnaround, piping, and installation projects for major industrial and petrochemical clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop bolting procedures and prepare torque charts for client projects
  • Calculate bolt loads, bolt stress, torque, and tension values, and verify gasket selection in line with applicable codes
  • Review flange design, alignment, and rotation to confirm pressure boundary integrity
  • Supervise bolting technicians on site and in the workshop
  • Witness critical bolting operations and sign off on completed work
  • Own quality assurance across all bolting activities, ensuring a leak-free joint on every assembly
  • Prepare final technical reports for client handover
  • Prepare quotations for customers and support commercial proposals

Required Skills

  • 5–6 years of experience in bolted joint integrity, including shutdowns and turnarounds, piping projects, and installation and commissioning
  • ECITB MJI 10, 18, and 19 (preferred international standard), or equivalent approved training in Controlled Bolting, Joint Integrity, Hydraulic Torquing, or Bolt Tensioning
  • OSHA 30, Confined Space, Working at Height, H₂S, Permit to Work, and LOTO certifications
  • Working knowledge of ASME PCC-1, B16.5, B16.47, and Section VIII, and familiarity with API 570, 510, 574, and preferably 579
  • Strong technical grounding in bolt stress, torque, and tension calculations, yield percentage, bolt elongation, friction coefficients, gasket compression, flange alignment and rotation, bolt load distribution, pressure boundary integrity, and leak-free joint philosophy
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulic torque wrenches, hydraulic bolt tensioners, manual torque wrenches, calibration equipment, and hydraulic pumps, from manufacturers such as Enerpac, Hydratight, ITH Bolting Technology, SPX FLOW, and Hi-Force
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD; familiarity with flange management software, bolt load calculation software, or hydraulic torque software is an advantage
  • Experience in KSA is an advantage, particularly in refineries, petrochemical plants, offshore, or power plants

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with equivalent field experience is acceptable
